Innovation Lab and OrthoPediatrics Specialty Bracing (OPSB) Partner to Bring Move-D™ Brace to Market, Advancing Pediatric Orthopedic Care

Published January 9, 2024

California, January 9, 2025 – Innovation Lab is proud to announce a strategic partnership with OrthoPediatrics Specialty Bracing Division (OPSB) to bring the innovative Move-D™ upper extremity pediatric brace to market. Designed to improve the lives of young patients with upper extremity tremors, Move-D represents a groundbreaking collaboration between Innovation Lab and Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and the University of California, Irvine (UCI).

Dylan Law, a pediatric patient and inspiration behind Move-D (named after him, Move-Dylan) played a pivotal role in its development. Collaborating with Dylan’s mom, Mackenzie, Dr. Sharief Taraman, Amy Moss MA, OTR/L and a group of UCI biomedical engineering students, the team set out to design a solution to assist Dylan with his activities of daily living. Their efforts resulted in Move-D: a lightweight, and adjustable mechanical elbow brace engineered to stabilize tremors in the dominant upper extremity in order to improve performance of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). Move-D offers life-changing benefits for pediatric and adult patients with movement disorders such as Essential Tremor, Ataxic Cerebral Palsy, and Parkinson’s Disease. Move-D’s design ensures comfort and adaptability as the patients grow or their needs evolve.

“This partnership represents the best of what Innovation Lab stands for—creating meaningful collaborations that deliver life-changing solutions to the patients who need them most,” said Ryan Kelly, Chief Innovation Officer of Innovation Lab. “The Move-D Brace exemplifies the innovative spirit of CHOC, Dr. Taraman and our broader ecosystem of member health systems. Partnering with OrthoPediatrics, a leader in pediatric solutions, will ensure that this powerful product achieves the widespread impact it deserves.”

OrthoPediatrics Specialty Bracing (OPSB) brings extensive expertise and a well-established network of pediatric specialists to the partnership, enhancing outcomes for young patients. By incorporating Move-D into their product portfolio, OPSB continues to introduce new and innovative products that support children and further expand innovative solutions to young patients and their care teams, while reinforcing its commitment to advancing pediatric orthopedic care.

“We’re proud to support Dr. Taraman’s vision and the exceptional innovation coming out of CHOC and our member health systems,” Ryan Kelly added. “The Move-D Brace is just one example of how we’re advancing healthcare through bold ideas and strategic partnerships.”
